Vegan Diet Bad for Kids?!?

Found this article online and it really irks me that people actually believe this.

The headline reads “A baby raised on a vegan diet is hospitalised for severe malnutrition.” But if you actually were to read the article the parents fed the baby soy milk and apple juice. That’s it. For starters the soy milk container says not for infant formula but so does cows milk. And secondly this isn’t the “vegan” diet that is the problem. It’s the parents not feeding the child enough food.

It reads,”At 14 months old, he weighed only slightly more than a 3-month-old, according to the Local Italy.” This is due to starvation not a vegan diet. The American Dietetic Association advocates that an appropriately planned vegan diet is nutritionally adequate for people of all ages.

It is the position of the American Dietetic Association that appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. Well-planned vegetarian diets are appropriate for individuals during all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, and adolescence, and for athletes.
