The DASH Diet

Dear American Heart Association,

Skinless poultry and lean meats contain saturated and trans fats. So does dairy, even if it is low fat.


I’m not a doctor but..

Looking up the effects stress has on high blood pressure and somehow got onto a page about diet. The DASH diet to be more exact. Yes they say to eat more fruits, vegetables and grains.  But they still has 2-3 servings a day of low fat or fat free dairy foods. And 2 or fewer (I guess that is good) servings of lean meats, poultry and fish.

One of their tips are “If you have trouble digesting dairy products, try lactas enzyme pills or drops.” Or you can just not eat dairy. That’s a concept.

Their section on sodium is spot on. Buy low sodium cans of beans and vegetables.

Then they have a section on medicines.

Or if you really want to get off of said medicines and to lower your blood pressure. You could cut out all saturated and trans fat. And cholesterol. Cut that out too. Follow a whole foods plant based diet.
