So apparently it’s World Vegan Day. Didn’t know that was a thing, but it is. It was one of the trending things on Facebook this morning. Which is pretty cool. People who wouldn’t normally think about veganism seeing it on Facebook. There are 7.5 million people in the United States alone that are vegan. Which is amazing, by the way.
I researched World Vegan Day and got some pretty interesting articles. One listing the bad side effects that being a vegan has. And saying that the 7.5 million vegans are “missing out” on meat, dairy and eggs. Yes, because eating vegetables and fruit is a bad thing. Seriously?!?
But besides the few articles that I found that dissed veganism, there were plenty that showed the positive health benefits and the reasons that a person should go vegan.
I wanted to look back on my time as vegan/vegetarian. I went vegetarian over 2 years ago but not quite 2 1/2 years ago. In was at the end of August in 2013. So, I haven’t eaten meat in over two years. That is crazy. Looking back and realizing how long ago that seems. I went vegan 9 months ago, in the middle of January this year, so 2015. So in January it would be a year. What?! It seemed like just yesterday that I decided to give up meat, dairy and eggs. Where did the time go? But seriously, I don’t feel like I’m missing out at all. I feel healthier, happier and I’ve gotten to eat more variety of foods.
