I have a friend on Facebook who keep saying that animal rights activists are extreme. Especially in the lion that was killed by an american dentist a few weeks ago. But is it extreme? Disregard what you think of PETA’s approach. I tend to not like their approach all the time but I love what the organization itself does.
PETA stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. How can you be against this? All PETA and other animal rights activists want people to do is to treat all animals with respect and care. Dogs, cats, pigs, cows, chickens, lions, deer, foxes. All of them. Is that really that extreme?
Or is killing millions of animals a year when we, as a society, don’t need to. We don’t need meat to survive. Especially now where veggie burgers and veggie chicken taste just like hamburgers and chicken. Or killing a lion that has a lion family and lion friends. Yes animals kill other animals. But they do it for survival. It’s not like a lion can walk to a grocery store and buy rice. Humans have other options.
If the lion was attacking a person then yes I would maybe be ok with killing the lion to save your life. But the lion didn’t attack anyone. He didn’t even pose a threat. He was minding his own business doing what lions do. Change lion to human and the person would go to jail immediately.
