We don’t see meat eating as we do vegetarianism–as a choice, based on a set of assumptions about animals, our world, and ourselves. Rather we see it as a given, the “natural” thing to do, the way things have always been and the way things will always be.-Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs and Wear Cows
If being a vegetarian or vegan is a choice based on morals and values, then eating meat also is a choice based on morals and values. But most people don’t see this. They see eating meat as what everyone does without thinking about what we are actually doing. And then if you choose to break the mold of “normal” and actually question the world in which we live in, you are seen as weird.
We shouldn’t take the way things are as a given. Like slavery. If everyone took slavery as a “given” and as the “normal” thing to do since it has always been that way; we’d still have slavery. But it took people who questioned the world that they lived in to make a difference and change the world for the better.
So question the world, you might see things that are deemed “normal” but are morally wrong.
