Gaining Weight on Vegan Diet

I went to the doctor because of a sinus infection yesterday and found that I have gained a bit of weight. Now from 100 to 107 isn’t a lot and I am still in the lower end of the “normal BMI” that I should be with my height. In high school I was under the “normal”. This might be because I’m older and the older you get the slower your metabolism is. I just found that to be a weird observation. I became vegan not to lose weight but combined reasons. The first is animals and their treatment. And the second is health (eliminating/greatly reducing cholesterol and fat.)

  1. I still gain the obligatory 10 pounds every December because of sitting around eating lot sof (vegan) goodies. When activity is a deficit, fat packs on. It all comes off with the spring marathon that is my yard.

    Did you know that the percentages have changed? Now that the population has more heavy people in it, my family (all fit and thin) are outliers. My daughter’s height is 80-percentile, but her weight is in the 20’s! I’m only 10 pounds heavier than I was in high school 30 years ago. Metabolism definitely slows down in the 40’s, but it’s practically impossible to get fat eating vegetable. It’s the non-veggies that do that job.

    I hope your sinus infection improves.
